Thin apple slices, a little lemon juice and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar are all it takes to make apple chips in the air fryer. The slices cook at 300°F (150°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, and they firm up into crisp chips as they cool. One batch serves 4.

The recipe needs five ingredients and one trick: slice the apples as evenly as you can, because even slices finish at the same time.
What You Need
The full list with amounts is in the recipe card at the bottom. Here is what each ingredient does.
- Apples (3 medium): Fuji and Honeycrisp are the usual choices for their sweetness and crisp texture. Any variety works.
- Lemon juice (1 tablespoon): tossed with the slices to stop them from browning.
- Granulated sugar (1 tablespoon): a light coating that sweetens the apples.
- Ground cinnamon (1 teaspoon): the main flavor.
- Salt (a pinch): brings out the flavor of the rest.

Slicing and Seasoning
Wash and core the apples, then slice them about 1/8 inch thick. A mandoline gives the most even slices. Without one, a sharp knife and some patience will do the job, but even slices are the goal either way, since they cook at the same rate.
Put the slices in a large bowl and toss them with the lemon juice while the air fryer preheats to 300°F (150°C). In a small bowl, stir the sugar, cinnamon and salt together, then sprinkle it over the apples and toss until every slice is coated.
Getting Them Crisp
Lay the slices in a single layer in the basket. If your air fryer is small, cook them in batches. Cook for 12 to 15 minutes and shake the basket halfway through.
Air fryers run at different strengths, so watch the chips closely during the last few minutes. If they brown too fast, shorten the time or lower the temperature a little.
When the chips look crisp and lightly browned, move them to a wire rack and let them cool completely. They keep crisping as they cool, and the rack lets air move around them so they do not go soft on the bottom.
Ways to Change Them
- Other spices: add nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice to the sugar and cinnamon mixture. A dash of cayenne is another option.
- Honey: drizzle a little over the chips after cooking for a sweeter, glazed finish. Adding an extra teaspoon of sugar to the coating also makes them sweeter.
- Different apples: Granny Smith gives a tart chip and Gala gives a milder, sweeter one.
What to Serve Alongside
Apple chips go well with a small bowl of Greek yogurt, since the tang balances the sweetness. A tablespoon or two of almond or peanut butter makes a good dip for the cinnamon flavor. For a drink, chamomile or peppermint tea suits them, and so does sparkling water.

FAQ
Can I use other fruits for chips?
Yes. Pears, bananas and sweet potatoes can be done the same way, though different fruits may need slightly different cooking times to crisp up.
How do you store leftover apple chips?
Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature. If they lose their crunch, a few minutes in the air fryer brings it back.
What if there is no air fryer?
Use a conventional oven. Heat it to 200°F (93°C), spread the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for about 1 to 2 hours, flipping them halfway through. Check on them so they do not burn.
Can I make these without sugar?
Yes. Leave out the granulated sugar. The natural sweetness of the apples and the cinnamon still give plenty of flavor. You can also use a sugar substitute such as erythritol or stevia for a little sweetness.

Air Fryer Cinnamon Apple Chips – Crispy in 15 Minutes!
Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C).
Wash and core the apples, then slice them thinly (about 1/8 inch thick). A mandoline slicer works well for even slices.
In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple slices and toss until evenly coated.
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Cook the apple slices for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
Once they are crispy and lightly browned, remove the apple chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
Notes
For a sweeter version, add an extra teaspoon of sugar or drizzle with honey after cooking.
Experiment with different spices like nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice for a unique flavor twist.
